Why We Started

Our co-founder, Jaya, was a screenwriter fresh out of college—full of ambition, with a portfolio of ideas she was proud of. Like many emerging creatives, she followed the “traditional” advice: write, submit, wait. She sent out dozens of scripts to agents, managers, and competitions.

Not a single reply.

She wasn’t alone. The entertainment industry is often built on closed networks and unspoken rules—where who you know can matter more than what you’ve created. Without insider connections or industry clout, getting in felt impossible.

That frustration—and the feeling of being invisible despite doing everything right—is what sparked the idea for StoryBoard:
a platform that doesn’t wait for the gatekeepers to decide who gets a shot.
